Book Page Wreath

Once all the Christmas decorations are taken down and put away the walls look a little bare. I find it to be a good time to change up the decorations in the house.  The great thing about this wreath is that the wreath can be big and decorated or small and simpl, depending on when they are to be hung.
I made this wreath with pages of an old book that had fallen apart (War and peace Vol. 2, I never read vol. 1.) I have been using the pages for different crafts for a few years.  
What you need:
  • Book pages ( for this wreath I used 36)
  • Glue stick
  • Glue gun
  • Cardboard
  • Stickers for decoration 
What to do:
  1. Using a large bowl or plate, trace a circle on the cardboard. Measure the middle of the circle and cut out a circle about 3 inches in diameter.
  2. Make paper cones from the book pages, use the glue stick to secure the cone.
  3. To make a small wreath, place the cones close together, the ends covering the hole in the middle of the cardboard. Using the glue gun, glue the cones in place.
  4. To make a large wreath trace a smaller circle using a smaller bowl or plate. Arrange the paper cones, the sides touching and the ends on the smaller circle. 
  5. Using the glue gun, glue the paper cones into place.
  6. Place the second layer of paper cones on top of the first layer. Glue the paper cones in place
7. Apply the stickers to the upper edge of the paper cones, the stickers can be placed before or after they are glued in place. 
8. Measure a length of string and attach it to the back of the wreath. 

Hang on the wall and enjoy!

DIY Minecraft Nerf Gun Target

We have been having fun with nerf guns in the backyard this summer. To change it up  from Nerf Gun battles we decided to make some targets to practice on. Materials: Cardboard box Paint pens  Duct tape  Measure the targets, one big circle in the middle, four smaller circles around the middle target. Cut out the circles, measure about a 1/2" from the edge and cut the contour of the small circles. Measure 1" on the center circle and cut the contour. Draw a character on each target. We chose a creeper for the middle target and pigs for the smaller targets. Place the target in their perspective circles, measure twine to hang each target in place. Duct tape the twine to the target and the targets to the support. Tape all the shapes to their respective openings. Add point value for each shape.  It's  time for target practice! Happy crafting!

Pom-pom Yoga Games

There are so many great yoga game ideas for kids out there, this is one that I found that is good for all age groups. The original idea was picking up the pom-poms with your toes only but I found that you can make many variations as you go. Ask the kids for ideas as you're playing as well it's fun to see what they will think of. Toe-ga Empty a bag of pom-poms on the floor. Sit in a circle around the pom-poms. Each player sits back, hands on the floor, knees bent. Place an empty bowl near each player's feet. 123 go, using only their toes each player has to put as many pom-poms in their bowl as they can. Yoga pose pom-pom pick up Empty a bag of pom-poms on the floor. Standing or sitting in a circle choose a yoga pose that everyone can do. While in the pose each player has to place as many pom-poms in their bowls as they can.  Some poses to try: Downward dog, use your hands to pick up the pom-poms.  Tree pose use your toes to pick up the pom-poms.
