Countdown to Valentine's Day

A countdown to Valentine's Day! I got the idea for this countdown to Valentine's Day calendar from a craft store flyer. They were selling a make your own Valentine's Day 'advent calendar' for $16.00 each, I was sure I could make them for less. I bought these supplies at the Dollarstore and the kids had a blast decorating their countdow calendars.
What you need:
• 2 Packages of foam hearts 
• 1 Bristol board                                                   
• Valentine's treats                                               
• Glue gun, markers & stickers                           
What to do:
1. Cut the Bristol board in half(using one half for each countdown calendar.) Choose 13 hearts for each countdown calendar. 
2. Write the numbers 1-13 on the hearts. Using the markers and stickers, decorate the hearts and the Bristol board. 
3. Arrange the hearts on the Bristol boards. One by one, fold the hearts in half and place hot glue on the bottom and up two sides of each heart. Glue each heart on the Bristol board. When glueing the hearts, pinch the heart at the bottom, apply the hot glue to the bottom and halfway up each side. Press the heart onto the Bristol board making sure to form a pocket
To make it extra special I had the kids chose the treats for each other's calendars. They can't wait to start the countdown!

Pom-pom Yoga Games

There are so many great yoga game ideas for kids out there, this is one that I found that is good for all age groups. The original idea was picking up the pom-poms with your toes only but I found that you can make many variations as you go. Ask the kids for ideas as you're playing as well it's fun to see what they will think of. Toe-ga Empty a bag of pom-poms on the floor. Sit in a circle around the pom-poms. Each player sits back, hands on the floor, knees bent. Place an empty bowl near each player's feet. 123 go, using only their toes each player has to put as many pom-poms in their bowl as they can. Yoga pose pom-pom pick up Empty a bag of pom-poms on the floor. Standing or sitting in a circle choose a yoga pose that everyone can do. While in the pose each player has to place as many pom-poms in their bowls as they can.  Some poses to try: Downward dog, use your hands to pick up the pom-poms.  Tree pose use your toes to pick up the pom-poms. Time Out

                                                        What I had planned to do this weekend My activity suggestion for this week is to leave the kids at home (under supervision of course, while you’re at it you can leave your spouse there too) and have some alone time.   Real alone time.   Not alone while doing the groceries time, that’s nice but every once in a while we all need some good quality time by ourselves.   I was lucky enough to get two days to myself.   My sister was going out of town and she offered me her apartment.   This was exciting for a number of reasons 1- she lives in the city and I live in the suburbs (there is a Starbucks within walking distance of her place and we don’t have a Starbucks at all where I live, so yay for coffee!) 2- I could have a weekend to myself for free.  All the pieces fell into place and I had a weekend all to myself.   Everyone kept asking what I was going to do and I didn’t want to say nothing so I made a list ·          Do yo
