Stitch Themed Birthday Party
This year we had two parties within two weeks of each other. One was Little Miss' 8th birthday party and the other was my sister's baby shower (which I will share soon)! Little Miss chose Stitch for her theme, no surprise there! With the new movie coming out there was no shortage of Stitch decorations and party ideas.
At first Little Miss asked for a cake in the shape of Stitch's face but I don't think that I have the skill for that. Instead, I found the idea for this beach cake on Pintrest. It was pretty easy to make and I used an idea that I have seen many times, I bought a cake from the grocery store and scraped off the icing and decorations. I used blue icing to make the water and Graham cracker crumbs to make the sand. I used Graham cracker teddy bears and fruit roll ups as decorations as well as little paper umbrellas and flamingo toothpicks. I was very happy with the end results, it was very summery.
For our craft we decorated pencil cases and notebooks. I bought packages of blank notebooks and pencil cases from Amazon along with a package of 40 waterproof Stitch stickers. I bought some stamp markers and gel pens to decorate the notebooks with. Once the notebooks were decorated the kids divided up the pens and markers to add to the pencil cases for them to take home. I also bought a package of summer themed pop-its to add to the pencil case zippers. This was a fun craft that the kids all enjoyed and they were able to bring home a fun and useful party gift.
Little Miss requested a piñata for one of her party activities. I decided not to make one this time. We chose this summery pineapple from Amazon and filled it with chocolate and candy. It was very sturdy, the twine attaching the piñata to the hockey stick broke before the piñata did.
All in all it was a fun party and I was happy with how the decorations, activities and cake turned out.
Happy crafting!
