Countdown Calendar

Countdown to anything from a homecoming to family vacation with this creative calendar.  It's easy to customize the calendar size by using different sized paper anything from construction paper to poster board and make it special for each child by using stickers of characters that they are interested in.

Cost: About $5.00 (depending on size and stickers you use)

Time: 15 – 30 minutes  (depending on how big you make it)

Materials:

·         2 pieces of sturdy paper depending on the size you need

·         Stickers (any character your kids are interested in)

·         Craft glue

·         Ruler

·         Markers or colored pencils for decorating

Directions:

1.       Place the two pieces of paper one on top of the other on a flat surface.

2.       Cut doors in the paper for the amount of days that you want to count down,.  Press hard   enough to cut through the first piece of paper and leave a mark on the second piece without going all the way through.

3.       Remove the first piece of paper.  Place one sticker in the middle of each door.  Glue the edges and put the first piece of paper on top making sure the stickers match up with the cut out doors.

4.       Number each door and decorate the borders, the kids can help with this step.

Pom-pom Yoga Games

There are so many great yoga game ideas for kids out there, this is one that I found that is good for all age groups. The original idea was picking up the pom-poms with your toes only but I found that you can make many variations as you go. Ask the kids for ideas as you're playing as well it's fun to see what they will think of. Toe-ga Empty a bag of pom-poms on the floor. Sit in a circle around the pom-poms. Each player sits back, hands on the floor, knees bent. Place an empty bowl near each player's feet. 123 go, using only their toes each player has to put as many pom-poms in their bowl as they can. Yoga pose pom-pom pick up Empty a bag of pom-poms on the floor. Standing or sitting in a circle choose a yoga pose that everyone can do. While in the pose each player has to place as many pom-poms in their bowls as they can.  Some poses to try: Downward dog, use your hands to pick up the pom-poms.  Tree pose use your toes to pick up the pom-poms. Time Out

                                                        What I had planned to do this weekend My activity suggestion for this week is to leave the kids at home (under supervision of course, while you’re at it you can leave your spouse there too) and have some alone time.   Real alone time.   Not alone while doing the groceries time, that’s nice but every once in a while we all need some good quality time by ourselves.   I was lucky enough to get two days to myself.   My sister was going out of town and she offered me her apartment.   This was exciting for a number of reasons 1- she lives in the city and I live in the suburbs (there is a Starbucks within walking distance of her place and we don’t have a Starbucks at all where I live, so yay for coffee!) 2- I could have a weekend to myself for free.  All the pieces fell into place and I had a weekend all to myself.   Everyone kept asking what I was going to do and I didn’t want to say nothing so I made a list ·          Do yo
