Pirate hat treasure box and gold coins
Surprise your little pirates with these easy to make pirate accessories.

Time: about 15 minutes
Cost: under $5.00

Material:
  • 2 pieces of felt
  • Needle and thread
  • Fabric paint
  • Yellow foam sheet
  • Empty baby wipes container (the plastic ones that come for free in the big boxes of wipes)
  • Brown and yellow construction paper
  • Tape
  • Scissors
Directions:

Pirate hat:
  • Place one piece of felt on top of the other. Cut out the shape of a pirate hat.
  • Sew each end of the hat.
  • Using the fabric paint draw stitch marks and a skull and cross bones in the middle
Treasure box and treasure
  • Measure the brown construction paper against the baby wipes container. Cut out pieces to cover all sides. Tape the paper to the container. 

  • Using the yellow construction paper make decorations for the treasure box including a lock and hinges.
  • Using the yellow foam sheet cut out circles for gold coins.

Pom-pom Yoga Games

There are so many great yoga game ideas for kids out there, this is one that I found that is good for all age groups. The original idea was picking up the pom-poms with your toes only but I found that you can make many variations as you go. Ask the kids for ideas as you're playing as well it's fun to see what they will think of. Toe-ga Empty a bag of pom-poms on the floor. Sit in a circle around the pom-poms. Each player sits back, hands on the floor, knees bent. Place an empty bowl near each player's feet. 123 go, using only their toes each player has to put as many pom-poms in their bowl as they can. Yoga pose pom-pom pick up Empty a bag of pom-poms on the floor. Standing or sitting in a circle choose a yoga pose that everyone can do. While in the pose each player has to place as many pom-poms in their bowls as they can.  Some poses to try: Downward dog, use your hands to pick up the pom-poms.  Tree pose use your toes to pick up the pom-poms.                                                         What I had planned to do this weekend My activity suggestion for this week is to leave the kids at home (under supervision of course, while you’re at it you can leave your spouse there too) and have some alone time.   Real alone time.   Not alone while doing the groceries time, that’s nice but every once in a while we all need some good quality time by ourselves.   I was lucky enough to get two days to myself.   My sister was going out of town and she offered me her apartment.   This was exciting for a number of reasons 1- she lives in the city and I live in the suburbs (there is a Starbucks within walking distance of her place and we don’t have a Starbucks at all where I live, so yay for coffee!) 2- I could have a weekend to myself for free.  All the pieces fell into place and I had a weekend all to myself.   Everyone kept asking what I was going to do and I didn’t want to say nothing so I made a list ·          Do yo
