Twinsies
Twinsies! Little miss likes to match with her dolls. When I was going through her clothes I found a pair of leggings that were too short. They were a nice pattern and still had lots of wear left in them.
I decided to cut the leggings to make bike shorts. Usually, once Little Miss has outgrown her leggings the knees are worn and have holes. Since this pair was still in good shape I decided to make a matching outfit for her doll with the rest of the material.
Using the material from the leggings I had enough material to make a doll dress, doll headband and hair bow for little Miss.
What you need:•An old pair of leggings
•Decorative buttons
•Hair elastics
•Needle and thread
1. Measure the leggings against a pair of shorts that are the length that you want. Measure and cut the leggings. Depending on the material you might need to hem the shorts so they don't fray.
2. Use one of the cut off legs to make the doll dress. Lay the material flat, in the center of the material cut down about 2" from the top. Cut the material the same length down either side, making 4 strips of material at the top of the dress.
3. Fit the dress onto the doll. To attach the dress sew a button on the two top strips of material. Cut a small button hole in the other two strip of material. Fasten the buttons.
4. Using the other leg of the cut off legging cut a 1" strip to make a head band for the doll, sew a button on the head band for decoration. With the rest of the material make two bows, one for the doll dress and one for the hair elastic.
5. To make the bows cut a rectangular pieces of material about 4"×2" punch the middle of the material together. Wrap a small piece of material around the center to hold the bow together. Place a few stitches to hold the bow together.
6. Sew one bow to the front of the doll's dress. Sew the second bow to the hair elastic.
Happy crafting!
