Our Tree of Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving! This week was very busy and eventhough I was really looking forward to hosting my family for Thanksgiving, I didn't think about decorating. My decorations were already up for Fall/Halloween and I planned all the food but last night I realized I didn't have an idea for the table decorations.
Lately my table decorations have been interactive, giving oeople something to do when they're sitting at the table. At Easter I had coloring page tablecloth. At Christmas I covered the table in brown paper and decorated each place setting with the shape of a plate and the guests names.
I knew that I wanted to have some activity at the table but I didn't have any brown paper left and I hadn't bought a tablecloth. I found versions of the a Thankful tree on Pintrest. I liked the idea and I just happened to have the materials on hand.

I used a metal container filled with with green floral foam. I had used this container for my sister's baby shower and Easter, it's a nice neutral color that matches with any decor. I printed out the word 'Thankful'with my cricut.  For the branches I found a  length of wire with fall leaves that I had in my decorating tote. I had used the leaves over the years for decorating and crafts so the wire was almost bare. I bent it into a tree shape and it looked like a fall tree, with just a few leaves.
I found some of the leaves that I had taken off the wire branch and punched holes in the top to add some string to be able to hang them on the tree. I wrote my guests names on the leaves and placed them at each place. So they could serve as place cards as well as decoration. I added markers on the table so that everyone could write what they are thankful for on their leaf. The end result was a beautiful fall tree full of thanks.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
