Gingerbread Ghouls
Use your favourite gingerbread cookie recipe to make these fun Halloween treats. I like this recipe from Kraft Canada for Gingerbread People.
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 package (4 servings) butterscotch instant pudding
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp ground ginger
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- Tube white icing
Directions:
- Beat butter, sugar and dry pudding mix in large bowl with mixer until light and fluffy. Blend in eggs. Mix all remaining ingredients except icing.
- Gradually add to pudding mixture, beating well after each addition.
- Refrigerate 15 min.
- Heat oven to 350°F.
- Cut into gingerbread-man shapes. Place, 2 inches apart, on baking sheets sprayed with cooking spray.
- Bake 10 to 12 min. or until edges are lightly browned. Cool completely.
- Use icing to draw skeletons on the gingerbread cookies. For mummies draw lines with the icing, covering the whole cookie place mini chocolate chips for eyes.
