Midnight Fairy Library

Little Miss and I made a very special fairy addition to our library. I found a Fairy library kit on Amazon and thought that it would be easy to create our own version. We had all of the materials at home. Some times when I get an idea for a craft, I want to buy exactly craft supply that I have in mind but lately I have been trying to use what I have on hand, to save money and slowly work my way through my large amount of craft supplies. The end result often turns out different but more unique than what I had in mind. This project calls for a faux book box but you can easily make one out of a box. I used one that I had in my Halloween decorations box. I had a more spring themed library in mind but the dark interior gave us the idea for it to be a midnight library. We added some constellation stickers I had left over. We were very happy with the end result. I can see this as a cozy place to read books at night.

What you need:
  • A decorative book box
  • Modeling clay
  • Mini books (you can make your own if you don't have any on hand, but because I am me, I hand some left over from another project)
  • Rocks (I have a few large containers of Rocks from other projects and others that I we picked up from being out and about)
  • Two small pieces of cardboard for shelves
  • Hot glue
  • Fairy lights (optional)

What to do:
1. We stared with our fairy door. I made the door frame using clay and then attaching it into the book. For the wood details of the door, we used the clay directly onto the book.
2. Add the shelves. Hot glue the shelves into place.
3. Decorate, we continued to use the clay directly on the book because I found that it stood out more against the black than paint and it gives the grass a nice texture. Add rocks and stickers as you want. We also made a table and chairs using rocks.
4. Add the books! The most important part of a library! These books are blank but it would be fun to add actual tiny books.

Once the fairy library is done, add it to your book shelf for a magical touch of whimsy.
Happy crafting and happy reading!
