Fairy Garden Birthday Activity

Image
This is a craft from our latest birthday party. Little Misses 5th birthday is this month and she asked for a 'very' (fairy) birthday party. We hoped for good weather and planned to have it outside. The craft that I knew I wanted to do with the kids was making a fairy garden.  I bought metal flower pots, artificial flowers, flower foam and animal clips. I bought everything but the fairies at the Dollarstore, I might have gone a little overboard. I also gave the kids butterfly stickers and butterfly magnets to decorate the flower pots.  What you need: Metal flower pots, one large and one smaller one for each guest Artificial flowers and greenery Dried moss  Mini pin wheels Flower foam Clip-on birds, frogs or insects Garden fairies, one for each guest Hot glue  What to do: Cut the foam to fit in each of the smaller metal pots.  Glue the moss on the flower foam, Pat down to cover the foam. Unpack and separate all the flowers and greenery. Arrange the flowers and greenery in the l

Super Mario Party

For Little Misses 4th birthday she wanted a Mario themed birthday party, we'll she wanted a Princess Peach birthday party but she was alright with adding Mario and Luigi. I bought some decorations but I made a Super Mario obstacle course, we even played the theme song while we went through the obstacle course. It was like being inside a video game.  I also made Mario themed cupcakes and snacks. Super Mario themed cupcakes These were fun to make and with some fondant it is easy to make them look like recognizable Super Mario characters.  What you need: Cupcakes (the birthday person's favorite kind) Icing White Fondant (I use white fondant and add food colouring to make the coulours I need but you can also buy already coloured fondant, it's not as messy)  Food Colouring What to do: Frost the cupcakes with the regular icing. Kneed your fondant so it is easier to work with (like playdough.)  Separate the fondant into sections for however many colours you need. I did white, gree

DIY Price is Right Games

Image
Hubby and the kids love watching the Price is Right. For his birthday this year we decided to make him homemade versions of his favorite games. We decided to make Cliffhanger and Plinko, the best  games! Plinko What you need: Shoe box Thumbtacks  Bottle cap Duct tape  Marker What to do: Lift the lid of the shoebox up so that it forms a gentle slope. I found it best to have one of the kids test raw bottlecap to see how fast it would fall, you don't want to to fly through the maze but you don't want it to get stuck in the maze either. Once you have found the best angle secure the lid in place using the duct tape. Now it is time to measure out the maze, use a pencil to mark the placement of the thumbtacks. First, make sure to measure the width of the bottle cap you will be using leaving a little space to move around or else it won't work, the Bottle cap will simply fall off the game without going through the thumbtack maze. Measure out 7 vertical lines

DIY Lego Birthday Party Games

When I started this blog little man was 3, he's not so little anymore , he just turned 11! For his birthday this year he went to see a movie with some friends. He wasn't going going have a party at home but the day before his birthday he asked if I could make him some Lego games that he and his best friend could play outside on his birthday. It took me some time but I'm so happy that he still asks for homemade party games, it might be one of the last years he does. Also, I'm not going to share my attempt at a Lego Man cake cause that was funny, little man said "you could win nailed it with this." So that will give you an idea of what it looked like! Lego Party Games: Lego tower ring toss  What you need: Spare Lego bricks Large Lego baseplate 8 Pipecleaner in 2 different colours (for 2 players)  What to do : Using the Lego bricks make towers of varying widths and sizes. Place the towers on the baseplate.  Bend the pipecleaner into circles big enough to fit over
