Blogmas Day 3: Advent Calendar

Over the years I have made many advent calendars for the kids. I have made a Lego advent calendar, a sticker advent calendar, family chocolate advent calendar and Pokémon card advent calendars. I realized, looking back over my blog posts that I never blogged about that one so I will post it tomorrow. 

While I have always had fun making my own advent calendars but for a few years now I have wanted a reusable advent calendar. I have been looking around for one that I like. It had to be good quality, with big enough cubby holes or drawers and match my Christmas decor (classic red and green.) 
This year I finally found the one that I wanted and I even got it as a birthday present! This year the kids got the real Lego calendars so I used my new advent calendar for hubby and I. Every day we get peppermint or orange After Eights.

Parents with young kids might know Tasty Time with Ze Fronk on Disney Junior. My little one, I've said before, sees something on TV and wants to make it asap. DIY Minecraft Nerf Gun Target

We have been having fun with nerf guns in the backyard this summer. To change it up  from Nerf Gun battles we decided to make some targets to practice on. Materials: Cardboard box Paint pens  Duct tape  Measure the targets, one big circle in the middle, four smaller circles around the middle target. Cut out the circles, measure about a 1/2" from the edge and cut the contour of the small circles. Measure 1" on the center circle and cut the contour. Draw a character on each target. We chose a creeper for the middle target and pigs for the smaller targets. Place the target in their perspective circles, measure twine to hang each target in place. Duct tape the twine to the target and the targets to the support. Tape all the shapes to their respective openings. Add point value for each shape.  It's  time for target practice! Happy crafting!

Pom-pom Yoga Games

There are so many great yoga game ideas for kids out there, this is one that I found that is good for all age groups. The original idea was picking up the pom-poms with your toes only but I found that you can make many variations as you go. Ask the kids for ideas as you're playing as well it's fun to see what they will think of. Toe-ga Empty a bag of pom-poms on the floor. Sit in a circle around the pom-poms. Each player sits back, hands on the floor, knees bent. Place an empty bowl near each player's feet. 123 go, using only their toes each player has to put as many pom-poms in their bowl as they can. Yoga pose pom-pom pick up Empty a bag of pom-poms on the floor. Standing or sitting in a circle choose a yoga pose that everyone can do. While in the pose each player has to place as many pom-poms in their bowls as they can.  Some poses to try: Downward dog, use your hands to pick up the pom-poms.  Tree pose use your toes to pick up the pom-poms.
