Blogmas Day 6: DIY Present Car Race T-Shirt

Today I wanted to share a fun DIY t-shirt present idea. Little Miss and I made this t-shirt for Hubby. We are all big fans of Mario Bros. so we made this Mario Kart inspired playtime t-shirt. On the front of the shirt we drew the character logos. on the back of the shirt we drew a race track in the shape of Yoshi. The fun of this shirt is that 
The back: race course
What you need:

  • A plain t-shirt
  • Fabric markers
  • Fabric puffy markers
  • Cars (we used Super Mario character cars)
The front: Mario Bros logos

What to do:

  1. Front: Using a black marker draw 6 circles approximately 2" in diameter. Inside each circle draw the logo of Super Mario characters, M in red, L in green, Princess Peach's crown, Toad's face, Toadette's face and a yellow and green flower.
  2. Back:  Draw outline of your course. We made our course in the shape of Yoshi. Draw a smaller version of the same shape within the bigger shape. Using the yellow fabric marker draw the traffic lines.
  3. Decorate: Add a checkered flag at the start, finish of the track. Decorate the back of the shirt with the character logos and checkered racing flags.
When you wear the shirt, lay down on the floor and let the kids have races on your back!

DIY Minecraft Nerf Gun Target

We have been having fun with nerf guns in the backyard this summer. To change it up  from Nerf Gun battles we decided to make some targets to practice on. Materials: Cardboard box Paint pens  Duct tape  Measure the targets, one big circle in the middle, four smaller circles around the middle target. Cut out the circles, measure about a 1/2" from the edge and cut the contour of the small circles. Measure 1" on the center circle and cut the contour. Draw a character on each target. We chose a creeper for the middle target and pigs for the smaller targets. Place the target in their perspective circles, measure twine to hang each target in place. Duct tape the twine to the target and the targets to the support. Tape all the shapes to their respective openings. Add point value for each shape.  It's  time for target practice! Happy crafting!

Pom-pom Yoga Games

There are so many great yoga game ideas for kids out there, this is one that I found that is good for all age groups. The original idea was picking up the pom-poms with your toes only but I found that you can make many variations as you go. Ask the kids for ideas as you're playing as well it's fun to see what they will think of. Toe-ga Empty a bag of pom-poms on the floor. Sit in a circle around the pom-poms. Each player sits back, hands on the floor, knees bent. Place an empty bowl near each player's feet. 123 go, using only their toes each player has to put as many pom-poms in their bowl as they can. Yoga pose pom-pom pick up Empty a bag of pom-poms on the floor. Standing or sitting in a circle choose a yoga pose that everyone can do. While in the pose each player has to place as many pom-poms in their bowls as they can.  Some poses to try: Downward dog, use your hands to pick up the pom-poms.  Tree pose use your toes to pick up the pom-poms.
