DIY Fairy Houses

These are simple little houses you can make to add a little magic to your garden or use them to make a fairy garden. They are easy, fun to make and affordable. The little terracotta pots are 3 for $1.50 at the Dollar Store and the rest can be found around the house and  outside.

Material:
Small terracotta pot and saucer
Stones
Sticks
blue beads or stones
Black marker
Yellow paint
Glue gun

Directions:

  1. Turn the pot upside down. To make the roof, glue one stick at a time to the pot. Secure all the sticks together at the top with glue.
  2. Draw windows on the pot with a black marker. Using a toothpick add yellow paint to the windows.
  3. Choose two rocks or pieces of wood or bark for the front and back doors, glue onto the pot.
  4. Glue the blue stones to the bottom of the saucer to make a fairie fishing pond. 


Place in your garden and keep an eye out for fairies!

DIY Minecraft Nerf Gun Target

We have been having fun with nerf guns in the backyard this summer. To change it up  from Nerf Gun battles we decided to make some targets to practice on. Materials: Cardboard box Paint pens  Duct tape  Measure the targets, one big circle in the middle, four smaller circles around the middle target. Cut out the circles, measure about a 1/2" from the edge and cut the contour of the small circles. Measure 1" on the center circle and cut the contour. Draw a character on each target. We chose a creeper for the middle target and pigs for the smaller targets. Place the target in their perspective circles, measure twine to hang each target in place. Duct tape the twine to the target and the targets to the support. Tape all the shapes to their respective openings. Add point value for each shape.  It's  time for target practice! Happy crafting!

Pom-pom Yoga Games

There are so many great yoga game ideas for kids out there, this is one that I found that is good for all age groups. The original idea was picking up the pom-poms with your toes only but I found that you can make many variations as you go. Ask the kids for ideas as you're playing as well it's fun to see what they will think of. Toe-ga Empty a bag of pom-poms on the floor. Sit in a circle around the pom-poms. Each player sits back, hands on the floor, knees bent. Place an empty bowl near each player's feet. 123 go, using only their toes each player has to put as many pom-poms in their bowl as they can. Yoga pose pom-pom pick up Empty a bag of pom-poms on the floor. Standing or sitting in a circle choose a yoga pose that everyone can do. While in the pose each player has to place as many pom-poms in their bowls as they can.  Some poses to try: Downward dog, use your hands to pick up the pom-poms.  Tree pose use your toes to pick up the pom-poms.
