Miniature Library

In my last post I spoke about wanting to make a miniature library for my new bookcase. Well, after a few months of constructing it, designing it and then changing everything. It is finally done...for now, until I add or change something else.  
I was very generously gifted a miniature kit from a friend. She made beautiful miniatures and I wanted to use the kit from her and make her proud. The kit I was given was for a larger miniature, I didn't have room for a bigger scene on my bookcase so I bought a smaller box from Michael's and tailored the scene to the smaller space.
Most of the accessories worked for the smaller space. The original scene had an upper floor but I didn't have to room to do that so I added the railings and stairs to give the illusion of an upper storey. I also added my own wallpaper, which I did after I glued everything into place and then decided I didn't like the white walls! The last addition was the overhead lamp, which I didn't think I wanted to add but it adds so much ambiance. The overall look is so cozy and there are so many little details that draw you attention into the space. It's another perfect addition to my new bookcase!

DIY Minecraft Nerf Gun Target

We have been having fun with nerf guns in the backyard this summer. To change it up  from Nerf Gun battles we decided to make some targets to practice on. Materials: Cardboard box Paint pens  Duct tape  Measure the targets, one big circle in the middle, four smaller circles around the middle target. Cut out the circles, measure about a 1/2" from the edge and cut the contour of the small circles. Measure 1" on the center circle and cut the contour. Draw a character on each target. We chose a creeper for the middle target and pigs for the smaller targets. Place the target in their perspective circles, measure twine to hang each target in place. Duct tape the twine to the target and the targets to the support. Tape all the shapes to their respective openings. Add point value for each shape.  It's  time for target practice! Happy crafting!

Pirate hat treasure box and gold coins Surprise your little pirates with these easy to make pirate accessories. Time: about 15 minutes Cost: under $5.00 Material: 2 pieces of felt Needle and thread Fabric paint Yellow foam sheet Empty baby wipes container (the plastic ones that come for free in the big boxes of wipes) Brown and yellow construction paper Tape Scissors Directions: Pirate hat: Place one piece of felt on top of the other. Cut out the shape of a pirate hat. Sew each end of the hat. Using the fabric paint draw stitch marks and a skull and cross bones in the middle Treasure box and treasure Measure the brown construction paper against the baby wipes container. Cut out pieces to cover all sides. Tape the paper to the container.  Using the yellow construction paper make decorations for the treasure box including a lock and hinges. Using the yellow foam sheet cut out circles for gold coins.
