Just Add Stickers

One of the great things about crafting with the kids for over 10 years now, is that I have amassed a fair amount of craft materials. After we make a craft and the kids play with it or display it for a while I like to save any craft materials for a later date or recycle any paper or cardboard that we can't use again.  This weekend we put up our Halloween decorations, no surprise we go all out for the occasion. Hubby asked me to make a sign for the entrance of our  haunted graveyard. I went through my craft supplies and found this wood arrow. I used this for my gender reveal for Little Miss back in 2017. It was already painted in black chalkboard paint, I gave it a quick paint refresh to cover the words, then added the words 'ENTER IF YOU DARE' in gold vinyl.  I nailed the arrow to a piece of wood, sprayed the sign with a coat of weather proof spray and set it out to add to our decorations.  Well, I did it, I made a Halloween countdown calendar! I got started a little late, ideally, if you start on October 7th  it will take you to October 30th.  But if you start it later, you can eat more Chocolate all at once, which is not a bad thing! I picked up a couple of Advent Calendars from Walmart (yes, they're out already!) I chose ones with dark colors that I could easily change to Halloween themed. I chose simple Halloween colours, black, orange and yellow. Tip: paint very light layers and wait until the paint is dry before adding another layer, so you don't go through the cardboard.  I painted a simple pumpkin and a haunted house for the kids countdown calendars. I used the back of the paintbrush dipped in paint to add the numbers after the paint dried.  The kids loved their calendars, they were even surprised that the chocolates were in Christmas shapes so I guess I did a good job making them...

My football stadium serving tray  I shared part of this post in one of my Blogmas posts, since Super Bowl is coming up this weekend, I thought I'd share it again and link up some of the other Super Bowl posts, crafts and food I shared over the years. Last year I made a football shaped stadium out of cardboard to serve hubby's birthday supper and used it again for our Super Bowl super. This year I asked a friend, who is great at wood-working if she would help me make a more durable version of my cardboard football stadium. I designed the football stadium fairly large to accommodate big parties but it works out well for our Sunday suppers as well. Now my obsession is filling the stadium with different food to look like a football field and players. This isn't too Christmassy but it's Sunday today and Sunday in our house during the Fall and Winter months means football! I'm not a big football fan but I do love to cook and craft. So, I  like to combine what I like with what the rest of the family likes, which makes for perfect fall and winter days in my opinion. Our super bowl parties are going to look a little different this year but that doesn't mean that we can't have a family friendly party. Here are some ideas to entertain the kids and get the familyinto the super bowl spirit. Even if the whole family doesn't want to watch the game just add some fun games and good food and there's bound to be something for everyone. Pin the Football in the Quarterback's Hand This activity is also a fun craft to make with the kids, or it will give them something to do while they're impatiently waiting for the good snacks.     What you need: A roll of craft paper or white paper. Brown construction paper Markers Tape What to do: Roll out the craft paper long enough for someone to lay on.  Trace the outline of the person lying on the paper. This week's theme day was...surprise, surprise...Frozen. During this quarantine we have watched Frozen, Frozen II and Olaf's Frozen Adventure more times than I care to count. So far, all of our themes have been geared towards Little Man so this one was all about Little Miss but it was fun for everyone. Oops Elsa froze her friends. Anna, Olaf, Christof, Sven, and the water Nook were trapped in an ice block. It's up to you to same them! We did a version of this activity years ago with super heroes . It fits in perfect with the Frozen theme and It's a great activity on a hot day.  Freeze plastic characters in a large plastic container full of water the night before. Using plastic tools let the kids chip away at the ice block.  An Elsa, Anna and Olaf craft. Create your very own Anna, Elsa and Olaf with toilet paper rolls. Cover the rolls with blue, pink and white construction paper. Cut out accessories for each character, ...

Your little Master Builders can make this heart shaped box for their Valentine. Or, you can surprise them and show them that you like playing with Lego as much as they do. It's the perfect little box to fill with chocolate or any other sweet treat. What you need: Red and white Lego  (multi colored would look nice too. Use what you have on hand, or under foot) Chocolate or candy  What to do: Start by making the shape of a heart using 2x2 and 2x6 flat bricks. Build up the heart shape using 1x1 and 1x6 bricks, build 3 layers of bricks Carefully turn the heart over, use 4x4 and 4x6 flat bricks to make the bottom of the box. To make the lid: Flip the box right side up Using 2x6 and 2x2 flat bricks recreate the shape of the box. Make 2 or 3 layers of bricks so that the lid is stable. Using 1x1 red bricks make the heart design in the middleof the lid. Fill with candy! Happy Valentine's Day!

Use your old jars to make these easy Halloween decorations. This is a good craft for kids or adults and adds to the Halloween ambiance. Cost: Under $5.00 Time: About 20 minutes Material Mason jars Black, white and orange construction paper Felt or other fabric to cover jars Elastics Twine Flameless candles Glue stick Directions: Cut a strip of white or orange paper to the size of your jar Using the black paper cut out Halloween shapes, cat, pumpkin, witch etc.  Glue a Halloween shape onto the strip of white or orange paper Roll paper with the shape facing out, place in the jar. Turn on the flameless candle place in the jar, replace the lid. Cut a large circle of the fabric. Place fabric on top of the jar, secure with an elastic then tie the twine to cover the elastic.
