Football Stadium Tray

Image
My football stadium serving tray  I shared part of this post in one of my Blogmas posts, since Super Bowl is coming up this weekend, I thought I'd share it again and link up some of the other Super Bowl posts, crafts and food I shared over the years. Last year I made a football shaped stadium out of cardboard to serve hubby's birthday supper and used it again for our Super Bowl super. This year I asked a friend, who is great at wood-working if she would help me make a more durable version of my cardboard football stadium. I designed the football stadium fairly large to accommodate big parties but it works out well for our Sunday suppers as well. Now my obsession is filling the stadium with different food to look like a football field and players. I sketched out a quick picture of what I wanted my stadium to look like and my talented friend built this for me.  To decorate it I painted the outside of the tray green with silver lines for the yards. I added chalkboard paint as a ...

Olympics and Football and Valentine's oh my!

Image
My house is very eccentrically decorated right now, I love putting up little decorations for any occasion and within the next 2 weeks we have the Olympics, Valentine's Day and the Super Bowl (Oh my!) Lots of things to look forward to and to decorate for, because that's what I do. On display in various parts of the house I have an Olympic rings poster (that we made for a family Olympics we had last year during quarantine) Valentine's hearts and flowers and a football serving platter with cutout football players.  I wanted to share one of the projects we made for our Family Olympics. It could be fun to make these chocolate Olympic Medals for a themed dessert.  I used chocolate whose wrappers most closely matched the colors of the medals. I wanted the mini Reese peanut butter cups because they are more of a bronze colour but the bigger peanut butter cups worked well and they were actually the one that everyone wanted at the end of the day. I'm not saying that we were all t...

Countdown to Valentine's Day

Image
A countdown to Valentine's Day! I got the idea for this countdown to Valentine's Day calendar from a craft store flyer. They were selling a make your own Valentine's Day 'advent calendar' for $16.00 each, I was sure I could make them for less. I bought these supplies at the Dollarstore and the kids had a blast decorating their countdow calendars. What you need: • 2 Packages of foam hearts  • 1 Bristol board                                                    • Valentine's treats                                                • Glue gun, markers & stickers                            What to do: 1. Cut the Bristol board in ...

Pancake Art

Image
Little Man asked if he could make pancake art this past weekend. He wanted to make the family a pancake art lunch. Not to be left out Little Miss wanted to stir the pancake batter, she is our resident mixer after all. We mixed up our favorite pancake recipe, any recipe or box mix will do.  Separate the batter into 4 bowls (to make red, yellow, green and blue) add about 4 drops of food coloring to each bowl stirring and adding more drops of food coloring until the colors are the shade you want. Since I don't have any bottles we used sandwich bags with a corner cut off to pipe the pancake batter into shapes. In order to reduce the mess we stood the bags in plastic cups. My pancake artist making his edible masterpiece, this one was an Among Us character.  Happy cooking!

Happy 2022!

This year has been off to a busy start, the kids have been e-learning and on the day that they were scheduled to go back to school there was a massive snow storm and the schools were closed. After all that we are finally back to our school routine. We're looking forward to everything that this year will bring. Happy crafting and all the best for the New Year!

Blogmas Day 24: Christmas Eve

1 more sleep! And we had no cookies for Santa, so it was baking day! We made gingerbread creations! We made people and among us guys and the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future and ghosts from among us and some of Little Misses creations throw in there too.  At the end of the day Santa got cookies (a ghost and a Santa) spaghetti (Little Man's tradition from when he was actually little) a vitamin D gummy (Little Miss decided that Santa should have some vitamins) 8 peices of carrot (so the reindeer don't have to share) and a rapid Covid test (because we all need to stay safe!) Wishing you a Safe and Merry Christmas!
